1/2 C Shortening
1 C Sugar
1 t Baking Soda
1 t Salt
7 T water
1 T Rum
1 C Molasses
3 1/2 C flour
1 1/2 t ginger
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t nutmeg
1/4 t allspice
Cream sugar and shortning together, then add water, rum and molasses
Sift flour and dry ingredients together
Refrigerate several hours, then roll out dough and cut with cookie cutter.
Bake at at 350° for 7 minutes, exchange top and bottom cookie sheets and bake another 7 minutes.

I have fond memories of rolling and cutting cookies with her and my brothers and sisters
that come to mind every time I make these cookies.
